A SPACE OF TRADITION AND CULTURE WITH PAOLO
A dive into forgotten memories, popular medicine, and the ancient Sicilian art of weaving. Paolo Uccello opens the doors of Museo TEMPO (Textile, Emigration, and Popular Medicine) located in Palazzolo Acreide. This experience allows you to rediscover completely vanished rituals and traditions: you will learn how to use the mangano (a heavy wooden tool used to beat hemp and linen fibers), discover the secrets behind natural dyes derived from unique historical recipes, or marvel at the ultra-precious byssus (sea silk), as well as historic noble corsets made with whalebone staves. In the popular medicine section, Paolo shares stories of the ciarauli (traditional healers protected by Saint Paul against snake and dog bites) and the maiare (local witches/healers), revealing the magical spells and double-meaning riddles passed down through generations.
